The Big Dig

Look there are dinosaurs at Harvard!  They live at the Museum of Natural History on campus.  I went to see the famous glass flowers there and found this creature instead.  There's a triceratops and a pterodactyl, too.  Finals are finished (huzzah!) and I am looking for fun things to do around town.  Suggestions for movies, books, and hidden treasures to dig up in Boston?

The End of an Era

An excerpt from our landlord, one of the founders of the E-house in 1992...

Dear Women of the Esther House: It is with a sad heart that I write to tell you that I will be placing the XXX New York Avenue Property on the market as of May 2006. After consulting with others, the advice is given to me to request that the house be empty at the time of sale. Lord bless you and we hope to keep our connections and relationships going. You are all more than welcome also to locate another house to rent in order to keep the Esther House tradition alive.

Bipolarity

This weekend I completed Part II of the Lay Counseling Institute training -- equipping lay folks to understand both Freud and Jesus, and the broken world a little better. It made me grieve in a way I hadn't grieved for in a very long time. This weekend I went to hear Ira Glass, host of public radio's 'This American Life' talk about the magic of making radio about real people. I haven't been put in stitches with laughter this hard in a very long time.

It has been a very good cathartic weekend, but tomorrow I think I will stay home and try not to emote too much :)

Writer's Block (Continued)

Perched upon this writer's block
The world seems far away
Deadlines loom but there's no doom
In checking email one more time
Or to clean under the washing machine
And fix a snack, and to have a chat
With a long lost friend on friendster.

The assignment's not hard
But my brain feels like lard
And fears to perform above more than the norm
Keep me from starting or doing much more
Than writing this verse online.

An extension -- maybe possible?
But my pride it is loss-able.
Muse of mine I call on your name
Send me a message
I'll text back and bless ya
And start back on the path
To production.

**It's 12:12am... and I'm stuck on top of a writer's block! With no helicopters in sight! Ah!
